Arm Lift

Defy Gravity with Brachioplasty

Life is meant to be celebrated, so don’t hesitate to cheer. Wave goodbye to shapeless and wobbly arms with an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty. If you’re concerned about the look of your arms, dislike hiding them in long sleeved clothing, or can’t find shirts to fit them, an arm lift might be right for you.

What is an Arm Lift?

Brachioplasty is a very effective way to combat the sagging arm skin that often accompanies aging or significant weight loss. There are few traditional exercises or diet plans that effectively reduce this trouble spot, causing people of all ages to complain about the state of their arms. If you’re already at a stable weight, or have recently lost a significant amount of weight, an arm lift can take your success to the next level by removing excess skin.

An arm lift reduces sagging skin by tightening and smoothing the arm’s underlying supportive tissue. The surgeon creates a crescent or “smile”-shaped incision along the underside of the upper arm to remove the skin and fatty tissue on the upper arm. Then the remaining skin and tissues are tightened and lifted to create dramatic results.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Arm Lift?

Brachioplasty is a safe procedure, and it’s important to be in good health before scheduling surgery. Good candidates should have the following traits:

  • Healthy starting weight. You should be at a stable weight and not significantly overweight, which can increase surgical risks.
  • Non-smoker. Smokers face higher risks during anesthesia. Smoking can also make recovery  and healing more difficult.
  • Ready to embrace a positive change. Dr. Bekanich can help you form a realistic treatment plan to make sure you reach your goals.

Frequently Asked Arm Lift Questions

When will I see results? You’ll notice a change within the first week after the surgery, with even better results in the following 3-6 months. Talk to Dr. Bekanich about how to personalize your surgery and recovery.

Will there be scarring? There will be a scar that runs along the inner upper arm, from elbow to armpit for a full lift.  Smaller lifts have less scarring. The scar won’t prohibit you from wearing sleeveless shirts, fitted clothes, or a bathing suit.

Do I have the right doctor? Finding the right surgeon is the key to successful surgery. Dr. Bekanich is a board certified plastic surgeon and can answer all your arm lift questions to  help you decide the best way to reshape your arms.
