About Dr. Bekanich
Meet Amy S. Bekanich, MD: Austin’s Plastic Surgeon for the discriminating woman.
Do you believe that feeling confident in your appearance is an important part of a healthy, happy life? I do. That’s why I became a plastic surgeon. Throughout my medical training, I saw firsthand the positive transformation my patients experienced when they felt comfortable with themselves both inside and out, often for the first time in years. To me, cosmetic surgery is less about looking a certain way and more about feeling like yourself because you love the way you look. The way YOU want to look, whether that be a natural look or one that makes you stand out in the crowd.
What “confidence” looks like is totally up to you and it’s my specialty to help you get there.
How you can know you are in good hands:
- I’m board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
- I completed 5 years of surgical residency training, 2 years exclusively in plastic surgery
- I’ve specialized in cosmetic surgery with additional years of fellowship training in aesthetic surgery & fat grafting in the capital of cosmetic surgery – Miami, Florida.
- From day one, my focus has been on helping women feel confident & beautiful
My Training & Experience
After graduating magna cum laude from Westminster College, I went on to complete my medical degree at Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2004. I completed a 5 year general & plastic surgery residency at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, with the final two years devoted entirely to plastic surgery. During this time, I had the opportunity to work alongside top breast surgeons at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, learning advanced techniques for aesthetic & reconstructive breast surgery. After my residency, I furthered my cosmetic surgery training, completing a year of fellowships in Aesthetic Surgery and Fat Grafting in Miami, Florida.
Since 2010, I’ve been in private practice, specializing in cosmetic breast enhancement, liposuction and body contouring, buttock enhancement, and facial rejuvenation. I strongly felt that to be the best at what I do, it was important to become focused exclusively in cosmetic surgery, with the patient experience as top priority. Because of this, I have founded a boutique practice that allows me to give personalized care to each and every one of my patients – practicing medicine the way I think it should be – developing real relationships with patients that create tailored results. During this time, I have served two Clinical Teaching Appointments and continued to further my experience with participation at national conferences and meetings.
My Practice Philosophy
My passion for women’s health & empowerment has always guided my professional development. As a 40+ mom of 3, I understand what it’s like to see and feel your body change with pregnancy, childbirth, and aging. So it’s extremely rewarding for me to help other women “beat the system” and reclaim their bodies, helping them feel like themselves again. My focus is to provide results that match a patient’s personality, achieve her personal aesthetic goals, and most importantly, enhance her self-confidence. Come in for a consultation and see what it really means to have an individual, personalized experience.
Family Life & Texas Pride
I’m a Southern girl at heart, born in Louisiana with an endless appetite for crawfish etouffee and Tex-mex—a paddle boarder with an affinity for French language films. On the weekends, you’ll catch me playing tennis, swimming, doing projects with the kids, and searching for that perfect old car that I can start restoring. You couldn’t pay me to live anywhere else and, lucky for me, my husband and three incredible children feel the same way!
